CELEBRATING 30 YEARS OF AFFORD AND DIASPORA ACTION IN AFRICA

For the last 30 years, AFFORD has strived to demonstrate the global significance of the African diaspora and to expand and enhance its positive contributions to the development of the African continent and the wider world. This has been realised through the actions of ordinary individuals making extraordinary, consistent contributions, from AFFORD’s founders, trustees, staff, resource persons, volunteers and by our many supporters over the last 30 years.

AFFORD will acknowledge and reflect on these momentous decades with anniversary celebrations over the next 12 months. This will commence with AFFORD’s flagship event the African Diaspora and Development Day (AD3) which will celebrate AFFORD’s 30th year of inception. The theme of AD3 is the Transformational Power of the African Diaspora – Celebrating 30 Years of AFFORD & Diaspora Action in Africa. A line-up of leading diaspora transformers and changemakers will come together to share their inspirational stories of change that continue to inspire and rebuild a continent. 

AD3 will be a double celebration of the achievements of our distinguished diaspora transformers and AFFORD’s vital role and impact in the sector. Together, we will explore what has been achieved over the last three decades, and look ahead to the priorities and focus that will drive the next 30 years of diaspora activism and its contribution to the African Union’s 2063 Agenda for a brighter, sustainable African future and renaissance. 

AFFORD’s events will continue over the course of the next year culminating in AFFORD’s 30th birthday celebrations. We hope you will join us for our anniversary events and celebrations.
